Madjare
The village of Madjare ( 369 inhabitants after the census in 2001) - a part of the Samokov municipality is located in equal distances –15 km from the two famous Bulgarian mountain resorts Borovets and Maljovitsa. There is regular bus connection with Samokov and in the weekends also with the capital Sofia, which lays 80 km in northwest direction. The village is situated on the right bank of Cherni Iskar river in the Govedartsi valley on an altitude of 1150 m above sea level. The valley is hidden between the Lakatitsa Rila in the north and Maljovitsa part from Northwest Rila in the south. Through the village are flowing the right feeders of Cherni Iskar - Milchinitsa and Samarchev dol. The climate is mountainous. The soils are forest maroon. Cultivated are potatoes. Developed is the sheep-breeding and production of milk and cheese. There is a school since 1920 and a church “Sveti Spas”( 1895 ).Madjare is a climate resort. There are many holiday houses, chalets and family hotels. Two hours from the village is the hut “Mechit”. There is also a lift and a ski-track from the neighboring village Govedartsi(1 km) to the hut “Mechit”.In the surroundings are the Govedartsi monasteries “Saint Georg” and “Sveta Bogoroditsa”. Mountaineers have possibilities to climb the high peaks with bird’s eye view Golyam Mechit (2568 m), Lopushki (2698m), Popova kappa(2704m) and Goljam Kupen(2731m) and to visit a necklace of mountain lakes – Strashnoto, Jonchevo, Lopushko etc.
